3 Reasons For Why I Should Have Never Used that First Time Credit Card

It's all so easy when you get that first credit card application. Simply fill out the form, send it in, and you get a little plastic card that you can use for all kinds of purchases. It sounds easy enough, but most credit card companies won't warn you about the fees and other things that can make a credit card very costly to you. Today I wish I would have never even used that first time credit card, and here are three reasons why.

Reason #1 - It Was Too Easy to Spend
One big reason I wish I would have never used that first time credit card was that it was far too easy to spend. With the card, I knew I could buy items, even if I didn't really have the money. However, I was young and not financially responsible enough to realize how those charges were building up. I simply pulled out the card and paid, not realizing it would all catch up later.

Reason #2 - Fees, Fees, Fees
Although all the fees were noted in the fine print, I never took the time to look at the fine print so the fees came as a big surprise. Those credit card companies have to make money somehow, and with all the fees they charged me, they were making a lot of money. Instead of just paying for the items I needed, I wasted a lot of money on paying fees to the company.

Reason #3 - A Bad Credit History that Follows Me Everywhere
Last, another reason that I should have never used that first time credit card is that now I have a bad credit history that follows me everywhere. Even though that has been several years ago and I've never used another card, I still am dealing with a credit score that is low as a result of that first credit card.
